  1. Day

Day After early morning pickup from your central Luxor hotel or cruise ship, travel by air-conditioned vehicle to the launch site on the west bank of the Nile River. On arrival, enjoy a light pre-flight snack and refreshments, and meet your expert pilot and ground crew. Next, listen to a comprehensive safety briefing and step inside the balloon’s sturdy basket with your pilot and several other passengers. Then, feel your adrenaline surge as the brightly colored balloon rises into the still-dark sky for your approximate 30 to 45-minute flight. Soak up the jaw-dropping, aerial views just as the sun peeps over the east bank of the Nile River. Watch as the light illuminates the surrounding mountains and buildings of Luxor, and be sure to capture the unforgettable scenes on camera. Look to the east to see the pillars of Karnak Temple greet the morning sun, and then turn west to admire Queen Hatshepsut’s Temple cast in the glow of dawn. View the Colossi of Memnon rising from the nearby fields, and in the distance, take in the Valley of the Queens, nestled in the craggy mountains. Then, if the wind conditions are right, float over the Ramesseum, the impressive funerary temple of Pharaoh Ramses II, and gaze down at its pylons, statues and courtyards. As you fly, a ground support van and crew will follow your balloon, and will be there when you land. After a safe touchdown, step back onto land and receive your personal flight certificate and souvenir. Finally, drive back to Luxor where your experience ends with a drop-off at your hotel or ship in time for breakfast and your morning tour departures.

Floating over pharaohs’ land with wind in my hair and joy in my heart
I’ve done a lot of sunrise tours , but none ever felt quite like this. Luxor from the sky looks like a land made of stories. I could see the tombs tucked in the cliffs , the temples sprawling in the valley , and even tiny boats on the Nile starting their morning. The whole experience was smooth , beautiful , and left me feeling completely light — like the balloon carried away all my stress.

From yawns to wows — sunrise over Luxor is unforgettable
At 4 a.m. I was questioning my life choices , but by 6 a.m. I was thanking every past version of myself for booking this. We glided over banana farms , old tombs , and the mighty Nile while the sun slowly painted everything in soft gold. The silence was only broken by whispers and camera clicks. You feel like you’re part of something ancient and grand.

  3. Nettie Sue Rowland

A peaceful escape with golden light , history , and sky high views
There’s something calming about floating in silence over one of the world’s richest archaeological zones. The balloon itself was colorful and cozy , and the flight path gave us views of tomb entrances , palm groves , and far-off cliffs. I loved seeing the contrast of green fields and dry desert from up there. The air was fresh , the people were kind , and I felt completely present.

Felt like Aladdin on a magic carpet ride over ancient treasures
This was my first balloon ride and now I’m spoiled forever. The lift-off was so gentle , and the pilot made it fun with stories about the pharaohs and the temples we were seeing. I spotted the Colossi of Memnon and the Ramesseum and felt like I was flying through a textbook of ancient wonders. I even waved to a donkey below and he actually looked up — made my whole morning.

  5. Wanda Lou Cartwright

The most romantic way to start a day in the heart of ancient Egypt
My partner and I did this for our anniversary and let me just say — best. idea. ever. The way the sun rose and touched every single ruin with a golden kiss ? Unreal. There were couples , solo travelers , and even a grandma celebrating her 70th , and everyone was just vibing. We got some incredible photos , but the real gift was the silence and perspective from above. It made us feel like the world paused for a minute just for us.

  6. Zebulon Earl Tate

Smooth , silent , and straight up unforgettable — ballooning over Luxor
There was something oddly peaceful about how quiet the ride was. No engines , no rush , just floating. Our group was a mix of folks , and everyone went quiet when the sun started to rise — jaws dropped , cameras clicking , but mostly just awe. The Nile looked like silver ribbon cutting through the land. And those ancient sites , lit by sunlight , had this timeless beauty that made the whole trip feel sacred.

Luxor from the sky feels like time travel with a front row seat
Being up in that balloon felt like floating through history itself. I kept thinking about how those massive temples were built thousands of years ago , and here we were , casually drifting above them. We could see Karnak in the distance , and the Valley of the Queens looked like a secret map of stories. The pilot even pointed out places I’d never heard of. The light was soft and golden , and it felt sacred somehow.

  8. Cletus Joe Harper

Watching Egypt wake up from above was pure poetry in motion
We were up before the roosters , bundled in jackets and still yawning — but that all changed the second we were airborne. The pilot was cracking jokes , and the view below started to glow with golden light. The temples and tombs that once felt far and unreachable were suddenly right beneath us , detailed and magical. The mountains , fields , and river all came alive under that morning sun.

Chilly breeze , epic views , and floating like a feather above Luxor
Our balloon ride in Luxor gave me literal goosebumps — partly from the early morning chill , but mostly from how beautiful everything looked. The flight itself was so smooth , you barely noticed we were moving. I loved how we could spot the Nile snaking through the land , and watch farmers starting their day as if nothing unusual was happening above them. It’s wild how small everything looks from up there , but you feel so connected to the ancient world. The experience was both humbling and thrilling.

Sunrise magic floating over ancient temples in a dreamy balloon ride
I still can’t believe we flew over the Valley of the Kings while the sun peeked over the horizon — it felt like stepping into a movie scene. We were picked up before dawn in a comfy van and taken straight to the west bank. The basket was bigger than I thought, but once we lifted off, the world below transformed. Temples, mountains, and green patches of farmland unfolded like a painting. There was this moment when the balloon drifted near the Temple of Hatshepsut and it just glowed in the early sunlight. No turbulence, just peace and a few laughs from the other travelers. The views were surreal, and the silence up there was something I won’t forget.

Soaring Over Temples As The Sun Kisses The Horizon

I’ve done some wild stuff in my life (rode a llama in Peru once), but this? This was pure magic. We were picked up just before dawn, all yawning and groggy, but the excitement was thick in the air. The launch site buzzed with anticipation as the crew inflated the balloon. As we ascended, the sky blushed with that first golden light and suddenly, below us, the West Bank unfolded like an ancient storybook. You could spot the Temple of Hatshepsut and Valley of the Kings—stunning from above. It felt like we were floating inside a dream. The pilot was skilled, cracking jokes while gliding over pharaonic glory. I’d never seen Egypt like this before. Unreal.

  12. Wanda Sue Rigsby

We were up in the sky before the city stirred . I held my husband’s hand and watched as fields , temples , and mountains all glowed in soft amber . The balloon glided like a feather . Our guide explained some of the sites from up high , which was a great bonus . I loved seeing the morning light reveal secrets of a land older than time . It felt intimate and grand all at once .

  13. Billy Clyde Norrington

I’ve ridden tractors , horses , even paraglided once—but this hot air balloon ride over Luxor ? Next level . The setup was professional , and the takeoff was smoother than expected . I couldn’t stop pointing things out like a kid at a candy store . “ Look , it’s the Ramesseum ! ” I yelled , like anyone else knew what that was . This is how you time travel without a machine .

  14. Darlene Pearl Huggins

It felt like floating on ancient whispers . I didn’t expect it to be so quiet up there , but the silence was comforting , broken only by the occasional whoosh of the burner . I took about 200 photos but none of them do it justice . Seeing the Karnak and Luxor temples from above was like holding history in the palm of your hand .

  15. Virgil Hank Thompson

This ride was worth every lost hour of sleep . Pre-dawn pickup , quick coffee , and before I knew it , we were airborne . The best part ? Watching the shadows retreat from the mountains as the sun climbed higher . The whole west bank opened up before us like a treasure map . There’s something deeply humbling about seeing places so old they make your hometown feel like yesterday’s picnic .

  16. Mavis Louella Greene

Watching the desert yawn into life while sipping tea before takeoff was the calm before the adventure . Once we lifted off , the view turned cinematic . The tombs looked like ancient footprints , and the Nile shimmered in the morning haze . I appreciated the attention to safety , and our pilot was an absolute gem — charming , funny , and informative . We even spotted a flock of birds trailing our balloon !

  17. Harlan Duke

I’m not much for heights , but this balloon ride had me mesmerized . You start in the cool stillness before dawn , then slowly rise with the sun . It’s not like a plane at all—more like drifting inside a cloud . The temples below looked so delicate , like miniature models . My wife cried , and I might’ve gotten misty too ( don’t tell the guys back home ) .

  18. Betty Ann Chandler

I still can’t get over how peaceful the world looks from up high . We floated slowly , almost weightlessly , as the sun painted the desert gold . The balloon basket was bigger than I expected , and very stable . I never felt unsafe or nervous . One of the most surreal moments was seeing Queen Hatshepsut’s Temple from above—it looked like a chess piece carved by time itself .

  19. Jebediah Monroe

Let me tell y’all , I’ve done some wild things in my life , but drifting over ancient Thebes in a balloon ? That’s gonna be hard to top . The whole operation was smooth as a buttered biscuit . They got us up in the air just as the sun peeked over the horizon . We saw temples , tombs , and far-off camels . The view was something straight out of an Indiana Jones movie . Definitely a memory seared in my brain forever .

  20. Marlene Sue Whitaker

The pickup was early , but worth every second . As our balloon slowly rose , we could see the Nile cutting through the desert , with tiny villages tucked along its edges . Floating silently above the Colossi of Memnon , I felt this strange mix of peace and awe . The views were simply majestic . Our pilot was funny , yet clearly experienced . The colors in the sky , the soft light on the stones—just wow .

  21. Cletus Rayford

Soaring above the Valley of the Kings as dawn breaks is something I never imagined doing , but here we are ! The air was crisp , the flames roared above our heads , and below us lay an ancient world bathed in morning light . From the moment we took off , I couldn’t stop grinning . Watching the temples come alive under the sunrise was like stepping into a dream . The staff were kind and made us feel safe throughout the flight . This was our first hot air balloon experience , and it blew our expectations away (pun intended) .
