We started the day in a comfy air-conditioned van and were quickly immersed in some of the richest parts of Egypt’s history. What stood out to me was the variety: one moment we’re looking at a dam built in the 1960s, and the next we’re imagining Pharaohs ordering obelisks to be carved. I loved every second of it.
Hunter Blake Rowe –
The High Dam had such a massive view – you could see for miles. What I didn’t expect was how peaceful it felt up there. Visiting the Obelisk site was fascinating, especially when the guide explained the cracks that caused the project to be abandoned. Philae Temple, though, was next level – boat ride, stories, carvings… it all came together so beautifully.

Philae Temple was my favorite. We were surrounded by palm trees, Nile waters, and temple walls full of carvings. I never knew that so many myths about Isis existed. The site is peaceful and just breathtaking. Earlier in the day, the Unfinished Obelisk taught me so much about ancient techniques and failures too. The High Dam, though modern, gave a real sense of scale.

What a fantastic day! From standing on the High Dam and seeing the massive lake, to walking around the silent ruins of the Unfinished Obelisk, everything felt surreal. But when we reached Philae Temple, that’s when I was completely blown away. The stories about Isis and the myths of resurrection – I felt like I was stepping into another world. Our guide made sure we understood not just the facts but also the deeper cultural meanings.
Tanner Ray Holden –
The Aswan High Dam really surprised me. I thought it would be just a dam, but the scale and its effect on the region’s history blew me away. It was built to control flooding and changed Egypt’s landscape forever. Right after that, we saw the Unfinished Obelisk – carved straight into bedrock. So many questions came to mind like how they even thought to move something that big!
Caleb Joe Matthews –
Riding the boat to Philae Temple felt like something out of a movie. It’s on an island, surrounded by water and history. Everything about it felt sacred and peaceful. I couldn’t stop taking pictures. The columns and hieroglyphs are beautifully preserved, and hearing stories of the goddess Isis made the whole place come alive. The whole tour was relaxed and well-paced – nothing felt rushed. I’d never been to a temple like this before and now I want to read more about ancient Egyptian gods.
